The History
On November 1, 1920, Anna Beck, a 15-year-old waitress, was found dead from a gunshot wound in the building that now houses Arts Prescott Gallery. The death was ruled a suicide. Her family believed it was murder.
The case was never reopened. In 2007, a play was written about Anna Beck's story, bringing the case back into public conversation nearly a century later.
The building has changed hands and purposes many times since 1920, but the story of what happened to Anna Beck has never left it.
The Haunting
The gallery is one of the quieter stops on the tour, but the story behind it is one of the most unsettling.
What visitors experience here, and what guides have documented over multiple tours, is best heard standing in front of the building. The rest of this story? You'll hear it on the tour.
This is stop 05 of 14 on the Downtown Prescott Haunted History Tour.
