Matt's Longhorn Saloon

Whiskey Row's Survivor

Book the Tour

The History

Matt's Longhorn Saloon sits on Whiskey Row, in the heart of the block that was rebuilt after the Great Fire of July 14, 1900.

The fire began in the O.K. Lodging House on South Montezuma Street, spread to the neighboring Scopel Hotel, and consumed the wooden buildings along the row. Its cause was never confirmed. Legend has it that patrons carried their beers across the street to the Courthouse Plaza lawn and watched their saloons burn.

The buildings that replaced them were built to last: brick, stone, and a determination not to lose Whiskey Row twice.

The Haunting

A ghost girl has been reported pulling on patrons' arms inside the saloon. EVP recordings have been captured by investigators.

The restrooms are a known hotspot: electrical anomalies, lights behaving erratically, and an atmosphere that multiple visitors have described independently. The regulars know which corners to avoid.
